About us
Kent United is the competitive select program offering of Kent Youth Soccer Association (KYSA). The program is governed through the association not a club board. If your child has progressed through recreational soccer and wants to take their game and skills to the next level, Kent United may be the right choice for you. If you are looking for Recreational or Club offerings KYSA has programs for every level of player.


More about Kent United
In 2009 the independent coaches of FC Kent Select joined together to unify the teams under the Kent United banner. The coaches and teams of Kent United still maintain those cherished independent qualities, but with a stronger commitment to providing affordable competitive soccer for the community. The program blossomed from 4 teams to 8 teams for the 2009-2010 season. For the 2010-2011 season we anticipate another growth spurt, at minimum, adding boy’s U11-99 and girl’s U11-99 teams! Kent United’s program is designed for the player seeking a higher level of competition than is available in our recreational soccer leagues, without the greater time and financial commitments of premier soccer.

While select is a higher level of play and commitment, we stress maintaining balance between school, family life, other sports and keeping it fun - the foundation for a life-long love of the game.


Our Coaches
Being a select coach can be very rewarding. Our coaches are qualified licensed volunteers who enjoy developing players and advancing their own level of knowledge through coaches training and licensing classes. They love soccer; that's why they coach! If you’re interested in coaching please contact info@kentunited.org, we are happy to help in that process.

An added bonus, KYSA values continuing coach’s education, Kent United coaches can receive free licensing thru association-sponsored clinics or reimbursement for clinics outside the association (prior approval required).

Financials
The total costs for Kent United are typically more than recreational soccer, but less than premier-level play. Team costs vary depending upon factors such as age/level of play, number of summer tournaments, uniform costs, team camps, post-season play & field rental fees. Aside from the standard KYSA registration fee of $195, these total fees typically range from $300-$900 per player for the entire season. Optional team fundraising and corporate donations can significantly reduce the per-player cost. Travel expenses are in addition. KYSA registration fee covers fall league fees, league game fields, league game referees and insurance. Tryouts

Age group tryouts vary, boys & girls U11 - March/April, girls U12-U18 - May, boys U12-U15 – May, boys U16-U18 – March. Please check back with this website closer to your age group tryout dates or at the association website KYSA.org


Competition Level
Kent United teams compete in leagues ranging from District-3 Gold and Silver to Washington State League Division 1 and Division 2.


Uniforms
Kent United wears Adidas uniforms purchased through Soccer West in Federal Way. In 2009 the basic uniform (jerseys, short, socks) ran $79-$88 plus tax, warm-ups $71-$78 plus tax. For information on uniforms please contact the uniform coordinator info@kentunited.org.
